REVIEWS
Loved the venue which was bright & airy and very friendly. With the natural sunlight flooding in the huge window🥰 And the lady who ran the course was calm, friendly and very good at showing us what to do. Enjoyed my two hours very much.

Very good tutor who supported well. The class size was perfect as smaller class makes a big difference so the tutor could give each person support. Really enjoyed it and learned a new skill.

A good course with good tutor. The only issue is the environment the cafe was busy that means noisy environment. Overall I enjoyed the class learned the new techniques. Thank you to Aateka.

Wonderful teacher. Hard to concentrate in noisy cafe. Would be better in room without people who are not being taught.

I painted this as a gift for a friend. She asked me to paint a Klimt! I couldn't do that so I painted what I call my homage to Klimt. It was great to explore a more abstract 'all down the centre composition ' a golden canopy above the line-prop trees and a bed of flowers at the base. Right in the centre a golden sun! I used glitter in the paint because I couldn't afford gold leaf.

I undertook the work at the end of 2025. It builds on an idea that I first had on a rainy day on holiday in Derbyshire. On a couple of pages of a sketch book I made some random brush strokes using black acrylic paint. Once dry, I then used white pastel pencils to draw a couple of portraits. I'd wanted to use white on black for a while, so after these first attempts I then completed three or four larger portraits. Happy with the results I then decided to undertake the head of a Leopard. I retired four years ago with no knowledge of art but wanted to learn how to watercolour paint. I joined the U3A Group Syston, which is where my art journey began. Artist David Clarke is our teacher and he has over the years encouraged us to use different mediums and to explore different styles and techniques. 'Foot Loose' was created during a class where I was playing around with chalk and pastels.

I've always loved art since I was a child. Life, as it does, took over and painting was left behind in my past. The last 14yrs have been spent as a carer for my elderly mother. With her passing a year and a half ago I needed a hobby to fill the gap and the free time I now had. I started with watercolours, recently trying acrylics. Having painted my way through lots of canvas, which I filled with horses, dogs and scenery, I was stuck for a subject to paint. So, I ask my husband for a suggest

My art "Authenticity"This piece represents my journey of transformation ? a journey of becoming the truest and most authentic version of myself. It is about releasing limiting beliefs, breaking free from old patterns, and leaving behind the masks I once wore to fit expectations and seek acceptance. The act of removing the mask symbolizes letting go of the false identities that no longer serve me and embracing who I truly am.At its heart, this artwork carries a powerful message: be aut

This is Marley, one of my loopy border collies. I managed to take the reference photo for this drawing in one of his quiet moments, while he was hugging his favourite toy and stopping his brother Bob from stealing it! It was a challenge drawing him on pastelmat as I'm not too experienced with it but quiete happy with how he came out! He's drawn in a mix of faber castel polychromos, caran d'ache luminance and some derwent drawing pencils.

I loved this photograph from John Strachan photography and finally got around to painting it in acrylic. I tried to be quite loose with the painting as there was so much detail. in the end I thought the sky looked a bit bare so with the help of Chat GPT I added seagulls to the photo and was then able to paint them into my art work. This painting will be heading for the Aberdeen art show the end of August for sale.
