Capturing images is only half the work, and far too often we neglect to work on our editing and post processing skills to the same degree as we work on our skills with the camera. This class aims to give you the skills and knowledge to feel confident in photo editing software to create final images that are ready to be printed and displayed or shared on socials. We'll be going over how to import images, what is a preset, the function of the basic panels within Lightroom, how to edit lighting, colour, cropping and levelling, and more advanced techniques like dodging and burning, masking, and most importantly, how to export and save your edited images.I'll send out some test images so we can edit them together, if you have your own images you'd like to ask about please feel free, as always there will be time for questions throughout.

Street Photography Meetup

Street Photography Meetup

Sunday 20 April
Market Harborough, Leicestershire - 10am - 2 Hours
Leicester Photography Group
Anthony Tanton
People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. Learning to "see" interesting detail is a practised skill and we introduce you to easy methods that will open your photographer's eye and expose you to a world that is alive with detail. The most rewarding part of the class is learning how to approach interesting people and have them willingly pose for you.

We will also go over settings, focusing techniques and lens choices common to street photography to help us capture those random chance encounters.

If you have any difficulties or new to street photography, please don't be afraid to ask questions.

How you put together a photo, where you put each element in the frame, is a key component of what makes a great photograph. Understanding compositional rules, and making choices with your composition is one of the quickest ways to improve your photography.

In this class we will explore different compositions, what makes them right for the subject we're capturing, and what we like as photographers in our compositions. We will look at capturing stills with different compositional techniques, and effect that has on the final image.

Exploring the effects of focal length on images, from distortion and compression through emotion and vibes. We'll be looking at focal lengths from the very wide like 16mm, all the way through the most common range up to 200mm. This class will explore how different focal lengths change how a subject looks, how it changes the subject, what physical effect and outcome can be seen in the final image, and how it changes how we feel about a subject.

Title or Location: Glazing technique application
Some times I like practicing the oil painting techniques from the old masters. Starting with an imprimatura followed by a painting in grisaille, in this case I used black and white oil paints slightly tinted with raw umber. Once the grisaille later is dried, then a first layer of glazing colours go on top as shown in the picture.

Title or Location: Thoughts
I like practicing portraiture using different mediums, in this case, I used oil paints on a gessoed watercolour paper as surface for implementing traditional painting techniques executed by the old great masters (i.e chiaroscuro). I made an effort to apply sfumato and glazing techniques over the created textured surface.

Years ago, while hiking in the Sierra, I came across an old abandoned church - literally in the middle of nowhere. It seemed odd, out of place. I even knocked on it to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Ever since I've had a fascination for old abandoned places and the stories they could tell. As I work on a painting like this one, Mountain Top Splendor, I usually can't help developing a story about it. The home was once occupied by a veteran of the great war, who sough peace and serenity with his

Permission by photographer, Suzanne Hallerman. The minute I saw this photo, I fell in love with it. The colors the landscape, the small town... just charming. This is the description I put on my website: "This mixed media colorful painting has a texture made of tissue paper in the hills surrounding it, acrylic, oil, and ink, and to make it more unusual? a sheet of an old hymnal page ?My Faith Looks Up to Thee". This tight little village is set in a place where friendship and fishing are
